2.1.2. In the future, students may need changes based on how much trouble they might be having with this sort of thing, so you know for the next lesson.

2.2. The results will be collected by the teacher in the end, and will be put on display in the classroom or in a fun bulletin board in the hallway to show off their beautiful artwork!

3. Required Resources

3.1. Pencil

3.2. Blank Paper

3.3. Eraser

3.4. Colouring tools!

4. Introduction/Set

4.1. Class is started off by giving the little ones their own pieces of blank paper - explain that they will be drawing something but they'll have to figure out what it is as they draw! They'll have to pay close attention to the directions in order to correctly draw the picture!

5. Learning Objectives

5.1. Manitoba ELA Kindergarten Curriculum

5.1.1. 3.2.4 Access Information Use illustrations, photographs, video programs, objects, and auditory cues to understand ideas and information.

5.1.2. 4.2.5 Enhance Presentation Use drawings and labels to express ideas, feelings, and information.

5.1.3. 4.4.3 Attentive Listening and Viewing Demonstrate active listening and viewing skills and strategies [such as showing attentive facial expression, keeping respectful silence...].

6. Direct Instruction

6.1. 10 minutes

6.2. Let the students get ready for their drawing time - getting their pencils and erasers ready, and let them know you are going to play 'the sound' they need to listen to that has the instructions and to listen very carefully!

7. Guided Practice

7.1. 15 minutes

7.2. While the kids are listening, make sure to walk around and check to see if they are following correctly. Follow along with your own paper and pencil as well, drawing your own picture and showing it to the class after every single instruction. This will help the kids know what they need or what they need to draw if they're unsure!

8. Independent Practice

8.1. 15 minutes

8.2. This independent time can be used for the kids to put any 'finishing touches' on their drawings. They are encouraged to draw backgrounds or 'little friends', and colour their pictures in the end!
