Problems and Opportunities on PSU Campus

1. In New Stuctures and Renovations

1.1. Using more aluminum building materials

1.1.1. facing both interior and exterior

1.1.2. Structural framing

1.1.3. trim around windows light fixtures, doorways, etc.

1.1.4. piping

2. On Streets and Walkways

2.1. wear of outdoor benches and tables

2.2. lack of lighting underneath building and in certain corners/sides of buildings

2.3. deterioration/corrosion of railings and other metals outside

2.4. flooding

3. Idle and Lost Aluminum on campus

3.1. Maybe create a process to better collect aluminum used on campus

3.2. To those who maintain and renovate campus:

3.2.1. Replace broken and aged fixture with aluminum alloy products

3.3. STUDENTS on and off campus

3.3.1. Underage drinking is illegal and can maybe deter those under 21 from recycling their alcohol containers on and off campus. Create a way to repossess that aluminum.

4. In Dorms

4.1. Lack of natural light from sun

4.2. Age of shelving, chairs, and other furnishings

4.3. poor window insulation\

4.4. floor wear

5. In Classrooms

5.1. Temperature Control

5.1.1. Some need more heat

5.1.2. Some need more cool air.

5.2. furniture

5.2.1. substituting present plastic or wood furniture

5.3. Lack of natural light from sun

6. In Bathrooms

6.1. Areas on Floor susceptible to water contact and molding

6.1.1. drains in showers

6.1.2. floor underneath urinals

6.2. replacing dividers

6.2.1. aluminum will help them last longer

6.2.2. easily cleaned

6.2.3. harder to vandalize
