2.1. Technology is any device, tool or mechanism that aids in solving a problem. Technology has existed even in the early civilizations to help people and societies thrive in their daily living (SMARTEduEMEA, 2011). Today, there are modern technologies that can be considered as 'high-tech' but daily tools can also be considered as technology (Li-Hua, 2007).

2.2. The idea or term was influenced by the Greek concept called 'Tecknik'. Originally a field of study but now encompasses a broader scope of things (Schatzberg, 2006). Through the American discourse on the definition of technology, it was concluded that technology is anything that was created by humans for humans (Schatzberg, 2006).

3. New definition of technology

3.1. According to the article, "What is technology?", "Technology represents the combination of human understanding of natural laws and phenomena accumulated since ancient times to make things that fulfil our needs and desires or that perform certain functions (Li-Hua, 2007)." Technology is therefore anything that was created by humans with the aim to solve any perceived problem.

3.2. "combination of 'hardware' and 'software'" (Li-Hua, 2007)

3.3. Inventions that help humans in their daily lives (Li-Hua, 2007)

3.3.1. This can date way back in the early formations of civilization such as tools for hunting, tools for writing or for building (SMARTEduEMEA, 2011)

3.3.2. This can be things that we see and use in our daily lives like chairs, tables, utensils, bottles, etc. (nusys, 2019)

3.3.3. This can also be any new inventions in the modern society like smart devices

4. Why we need new technologies

4.1. There are still a lot of problems and issues that need solving such as medical issues

4.1.1. It enables humankind to increase survival rates. An example might be the COVID-19 vaccines to end the pandemic

4.2. Technology helps society and modern civilizations to keep progressing

4.3. New technologies allow for new ideas, new theories or even refinement of knowledge on certain things

4.4. New technologies help humankind to adapt to environmental changes or challenges
