1. Self-Awareness

1.1. Being reflective (of one's practice, attitudes and behaviours) through journaling or recordings, or by visualizing past experiences. Self reflection is the main tool for me. At times it is difficult to realize when we make mistakes, but by realizing that we have made them, we grow.

2. Self-Management

2.1. We are always on the spotlight, at work and at home. In our profession we are role models to our students and peers. being able to self regulate is fundamental for being able to teach. Breathing (deep breathing) is what works for me.

3. Social Awareness

3.1. We are expected to teach students about socal awareness, but at times we forget to practice it with peers and colleagues and even with our students.

3.2. Cultural awarness is one thing that I see we are lacking on when it comes to putting it in practice. As a former ELL student myself, and as a mom of ELL students, I have witnesed the lack of Cultural awareness in the classroom. This is something I am and will continue to focus on im my classrooms.

3.3. Through trauma informed practices we can help peers and students become socially aware. By modeling an understanding of experiences in the classroom we can encourage acceptance, tolerance and empathy.

4. Relationship Skills

4.1. Fostering a safe and inclusive classroom, where students can share feelings and experience and where peers listen and engage in a respectful way, models in students what is to be expected from the "outside world" and from future relationships.

4.2. Sharing cirle or morning meetings, time with "buddies", LLC, center time, etc. are great ways for students to learn the skills needed for relationship building.

5. Responsible Decision-Making

5.1. Provideng choice in activities is a way for students to excersice decition making with a "controlled" outcome. It gives them a sence of autonomy and fosters responsibility when they follow through on the choice they've made.

5.2. Coming up with a "Class expectations" chart is a geart way for students to visualize the concequences of their choices. Note that this chart is only effective if the students them selves have contributed to the outcome of their choices (consequences).

6. Outcomes

6.1. mental well-being

6.2. positive behaviour

6.3. improves engagement

6.4. personal growth

6.5. social growth

6.5.1. strong relationships
