1. Power Plants
1.1. 3 main power plants. 2 on Canadian Side, 1 on American side.
1.2. Hydroelectricity is made from the power plants
1.3. All 3 power plants work day and night to produce energy
2. Water as Energy
2.1. The water is a reusable source that be use over and over again.
2.2. Water from the Niagara River feeds into 500 feet tubes prior to the waterfalls into the reservoir and then is produced into energy.
2.3. The water transforms from water to "Kinetic Energy" to "Mechanical Energy" then into "Electricity."
3. Controlling the Flow
3.1. The electricity runs through a long series of power lines. The lines begin at the power plant and continue for miles.
3.2. At points along the way, power stations reduce the amount of electricity in the lines.
3.3. All 3 power plants make enough power to service millions of people both in the United States and Canada.
4. History of the Falls
4.1. Scientist believe that melting ice formed the Niagara River thousands of years ago.
4.2. Early 1800's the Niagara Falls began to attract many settlers and tourist. Late 1800's scientist were finding ways to make electricity with the water power at Niagara Falls.
4.3. In 1931 a gigantic rock slide occurred. Approx 80,000 tons of rock fell on the cliff. Another rock slide in 1954 with 185,000 tons of rocks fell from the cliff.
