1. What I did in my AS year?

1.1. I failed to do in depth research in order to ensure my final products conformed and rejected the conventions where necessary.

1.2. I simply researched conventions of teen films as a way of discovering what type of characters, what kind of instrumental music and what kind of dialogue should be included in my teen film opening sequence.

1.3. I also failed to gain feedback from the target audience of teen films. My group and I waited until the final finished product to ask for feedback. Personally, I believe it would have been more efficient if we asked for feedback before we finished producing our final product as this would have made our target audience's wishes clearer.

2. How did I approach planning in A2?

2.1. The research I did as planning was much deeper than last year.

2.2. I ensured this by thoroughly analysing all aspects of music videos, such as mise en scene, camera shots, sound and editing. I also looked at other music videos of the same genre for guidance, inspiration and to gain more of an accurate insight to what fans of our chosen music genre look for in a music video.

2.3. I also got feedback from our target audience before the final product was done by creating a rough cut which is what I showed the target audience as a slight teaser to what our final product will look similar to. By showing our target audience a rough version to our final product, we were able to have a clearer idea of what needs adjusting in order for us to gain high marks and attract the target audience. It also helped us recognise what needs to be taken out/included to ensure that we do not neglect our secondary audience as they too need to relate to the music video is some way.
