1. YouTube is also another social media giant which is a video streaming site, which is free like Twitter which is an advantage because of my lack of budget, YouTube over 1 billion unique users visiting each month, this means I have a potential audience of over 1 billion people to view my product which is a massive amount. Another advantage of using YouTube to distribute my product is that according to Nielsen, YouTube videos reach more US adults aged 18-34 than any TV network; this is relevant to me because this includes my target audience for my product. YouTube also has an advertising program in which I could pay a little fee in order to advertise my product on YouTube to increase my views.
2. First of all, I could independently distribute my media product through social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Social Media plays a massive aspect in the distribution of films, due to its size, with billions of users spread out across these different platforms, and because its free and I have little budget to spend on distributing my product this is a huge advantage to me. Through Twitters features such as hashtags and followers I could independently release it on their free of cost and build a community and fan base by frequently posting and advertising my media product. Hashtags would allow me to compile all the tweets regarding my media product and create a small or large community of followers and fans. Twitter is a massive platform which would allow me to potentially reach thousands of people.
3. In terms of media institutions, I feel institutions such as Film4 may distribute my product, Film4 is known for giving young film directors and creators a chance at creating and distributing their products, distributing films such as Kill List which was created on a low budget by a young new film creator, Film4 are not necessarily in partnership with other production companies, but they have worked with some major ones including Fox Searchlight, Pathé, and Miramax, which could give me more chance to be noticed and connected with other production companies.
4. Other film institutions such as DNA films would be a good choice because they have the same reputation as Film 4 for accepting new young film directors, and DNA films has links to Fox through their partnership with FOX Network Group, this gives DNA access to its global distribution network including channels such as Fox, FX, Nat Geo and Fox Internationals 300-plus channels around the world. FOX is an American commercial broadcast television network, it is the third largest major television network in the world, and with DNA’s partnership it would give me a good chance of my product been distributed.
