Vegetable Patch: Lesson 5 作者: Mind Map: Vegetable Patch: Lesson 5

1. Resources

1.1. Organise 5 parents helpers (need a Dad or two with a power drill to put the palette and plastic together). These parents will assist with the entire planting process.

1.2. Bunnings trip: Need to use the classroom or school budget-chat to the principal. Need to buy soil, compost, fertiliser, seedlings and watering cans (?). Ask students if they have watering cans and or gloves they can bring in.

1.3. Display students A3 sketches on a class display wall, titled 'Our Vegetable Patch: Design and Technology'. Also display their 3D models on a table.

2. Conclusion

2.1. Set up a watering roster. Question students as to why we need one. Talk about responsibility and the valuable life lesson this teaches us (e.g. similar to looking after a pet).

2.2. Discuss what was hard/easy/different/interesting/enjoyable about the design process and the planting process.

2.3. Talking circle: Invite students to use the 'Talking Stick' to explain to the class how their thinking evolved through the 5 weeks and the best thing they have learnt.

3. Intro

3.1. Flashback to last week's lesson: Showcase 3D shoe box model designs.

3.3. Outline and brainstorm the plan for how we are going to plant the vegetable garden
