1. Benefits of Chunking Information

1.1. Dividing content into small segments so that they are easier to recall.

1.1.1. Research has shown that when you chunk information is is retained in the long term memory.

1.2. This method allows for multiple uses of technology to present information.

1.3. Students stay engaged in the activity or lesson.

1.3.1. By breaking down information into chunks the students are not listening to long drawn-out lessons that loose their attention.

2. Strategies and Use of Technology

2.1. Using digital presentation tools help incorporate multiple types of media with the related information.

2.1.1. Best used in small amounts with bits of information. This allows for increased student retention.

2.1.1.1. Best methods of implementation would be through the use of video like what can be found at Discovery Education. The videos are broken into segments that allow teachers to pick and choose chunks to enhance the material.

2.2. Use chunking to include digital representations of new content.

2.2.1. An easy way to do this may be to create audio files to include in presentations. I like using the program Audacity to record.

2.3. Use visual prompts such as drawings, diagrams, and photographs to help students understand the information.

2.3.1. I would use a program such as Power Point to make presentations that include diagrams, images, and information.
