Science Mid-term

1. Nature of Science: Topics related to sociology, philosophy, and history of science. Use of facts, hypothesis, and theories.

2. 5 E Model: (engagement, exploration, explanation, elaboration, and evaluation) Students are encouraged to take facts and data from the exploration phase of the 5 Es to create and develop their own hypothesis. Using the facts they must elaborate and explain their hypothesis and why it should work. In the end they will have created theories that must be evaluated and validated through their evidence.

3. Argumentation: During the 5 E process, students will be faced with the issue of deciding in favor of one solution to another. Some students may collect different data or utilize it in different ways for their evidence. And eventually they will have to explain their theories during the explanation and elaboration process.
