R.O. Blechman

Born 1930, Brooklyn, NYC

formal education: Oberlin College

Best known works include the book The Juggler of Our Lady 1953, Animation commercials for Alka-Seltzer 1967, PBS Great Performances: The Soldier\'s Tale, and numerous New Yorker Magazine covers.

After being drafted into the Army, Blechman\'s first job was as illustrator at Storyboard Inc. This is where Blechman learned animation. He expanded his spot illustration and sequential panel illustration designs to magazine covers for Harper\'s Bazaar, Punch, Esquire, Humbug and Show.

1977 he produced the PBS Christmas television special, Simple Gifts which used his segment \"No Room At the Inn\" along with segments from fellow illustrators Maurice Sendak, James McMullan, Seymour Chwast, and Charles B.l Slackman.

1979 Blechman founded the commercial animation studio The Ink Tank.
