1. The Taliban

1.1. The Taliban had come back to Swat. Their army was too ineffective.

1.1.1. In 2008, the Taliban bombed 200 schools, suicide bombings, and targeted killings happened regularly.

2. A Rally

2.1. Malala and her friends planned an assembly where they would share their speeches. It was named Peace Rally.

2.1.1. Malala's friends spoke, then she did. Malala was very nervous when she spoke. She explained that she felt the world is moving backwards in history because girls were deprived of rights.

3. Traveling to Shangla

3.1. Malala’s mom thought it was time to live and head to Shangla.

3.1.1. After 3 months, Malala and her family were on their way home.

3.1.1.1. Her city was destroyed. This made her changed what she wanted to become from a doctor to a political leader.

4. Being Shot

4.1. Malala’s school bus came to a stop. Two men jumped on the bus and asked who Malala was. They shot her. Malala did not remember anything after her exam.

4.1.1. Malala fell in and out of consciousness. She eventually realizes she is in the hospital. She begins to worry about all the costs.

4.1.1.1. he doctors flew her back in England in a private jet because she was in critical condition. The doctor didn't leave her side for 2 weeks. Malala was in a coma for 1 week.

4.1.1.1.1. After 16 days, 4 hospitals, and 1000s of miles, Malala was finally reunited with her family.

5. Rise of Fazlullah

5.1. Maulana Fazlullah, a man on the radio, began to tell people to not listen to music, men had to wear long beards, women had to stay home, no one can go to the movies, and that girls should not go to school.

5.1.1. A group of militants began to take hostages and acting against the government. Fazlullah joined the TTP and announced women were banned from public areas. He said that girls who didn’t go to school went to heaven.

6. Malala's Family

6.1. Malala’s Dad planned to speak against the Taliban and her mom supported him.

6.1.1. Malala decided that she needs to fight for women’s rights.

6.1.1.1. She did some TV interviews about girls’ education. She wanted to keep fighting for peace and democracy.

6.1.1.1.1. Her family always supported each other.

7. Wondering of Death

7.1. A journalist showed Malala that if she is googled, the Taliban said “should be killed.”

7.1.1. She began to wonder about death because she was having nightmares.

8. Speaking to the World

8.1. When Malala turned 16, she was invited to speak at the United Nations in front of over 400 people from all over the world.

8.1.1. On her second trip, she met Jon Stewart who asked her to speak on his show, America Ferrara and even President Obama and his family.

8.1.1.1. She addressed the UN with her speech, in which she explained that Malala day is not her day. The day is for all women, boys, and girls that were killed or injured fighting for their rights. She wanted peace, equal opportunity, and for everyone to be educated.
