Reflection: I absolutely love that this website included numbers and facts about children with disabilities. One thing that stood out to me the most was when the article mentioned that girls that are differently abled are not expected to work and therefore don’t “need” an education. I automatically thought of the many young girls at my service site and it made me sad to learn this misconception. It was also mentioned that children that are differently abled are more likely to miss school than other children. That also made me very upset to learn about, the discrimination that they face is much for than what I expected. This article has given me a different perspective about how negatively society views those that are differently abled, and unfortunately how that affects them much more than just psychologically and physically.
