Force and Pressure by Mind Map: Force and Pressure

1. What is pressure?

1.1. Pressure is the amount of force applied perpendicularly per unit area.

2. Force is a push or pull.

2.1. Examples:Closing the door, bouncing a ball

3. What are the effects of forces?

3.1. 1. It can change the shape of an object.

3.2. 2. It can change the size of an object.

3.2.1. New node

3.3. 3. It can change the direction of a moving object.

3.4. 4. It can stop a moving object.

3.5. 5. It can change the speed of a moving object.

4. How can we measure force?

4.1. We measure force using a spring balance. A spring balance is also called a force meter. There are two types of spring balances. They are extension spring balance and compression spring balance.

5. What is the SI unit of force?

5.1. The Si unit of force is Newton and the symbol is N.

6. What are some types of forces?

6.1. Magnetic Forces.

6.1.1. Magnetic force is a force that is exerted by magnets on magnetic objects and magnets.

6.2. Frictional Force

6.2.1. Frictional force is a force that occurs when two moving objects come into contact with one another.

6.3. Gravitational Force

6.3.1. Gravitational force is a force that exists when two objects.

7. How do we increase pressure?

7.1. We can increase pressure by decreasing the surface area in contact.

8. How do we calculate pressure?

8.1. The SI unit for pressure is Pascal(Pa).

8.2. Pressure is force/area.

8.3. Eg: 800N/10cm2=80N

9. How can we decrease pressure?

9.1. We can decrease pressure by increasing the surface area in contact.
