Force by Mind Map: Force

1. It is a push or a pull

2. Change the physical form of an object, make a stationary object move, stop a moving object, change the direction of motion of the object

3. Soles of shoes and tires of cars wearing out, causes objects to lose energy through heat

4. Measured using a spring balance

4.1. New node

5. Frictional, Gravitational and Magnetic Force

5.1. Friction occurs when two moving surfaces are in contact. Friction slows down and stops a moving object. Friction allows us to do many things such as walking and unscrewing a cap off a bottle

5.2. The weight of an object depends on the force of gravity pulling on it; the greater the force of gravity pulling on it, the heavier it is

5.3. Magnets exert magnetic force, which attracts and repels other magnets and attracts magnetic materials. Magnetic force is also used in transportation, such as the maglev train

6. Pressure

6.1. The exertion of force per unit area upon a surface by an object

6.2. a small area is needed for pressure to increase. if the area of two objects are the same, but the force is different, the one with the larger force exerted will have more pressure.

6.3. to decrease pressure, the area of an object has to be large; for example, for skiis to have less pressure on the snow, they are made very long.

6.4. Pressure=force/area.
