Religion affects the lives of its followers by...por Taylor Joris
1. Moral Code
1.1. The moral code are the ten commandments. They teach their people what to do and what not to do. If you follow the ten commandments the right way then you follow his moral code which is gods 10 commandments. For example the 8th commandment states "You shall not steal". If you follow that rule and don't steal then you followed his moral code but if you steal then you have broke his commandment.
2. Sense of Belonging
2.1. When you are part of a religion you are apart of a community and it is easy to feel like you fit in and feel like you belong and you are apart of something. The Hindu Caste System breaks people up into social groups. The text states "Warriors and rulers, senators, presidents, majors, born from the chest of Brahma." This shows that there was a social system. I think it would be harder to fit in but at the same time I also feel it might be easier. The reason why i think it would be harder is because if you were on the bottom of the social classes it would be hard to feel like you belonged. I think it would feel like you were an outcast unlike the people at the top of the social classes who may feel like they do belong and feel good about where they are. The reason why i think it may be easier to fit in with the social systems like this is because you are split up into social groups so it obvious that the people in the group would be more alike or it would feel like they may fit in more because everyone is treated the same in that specific social group. Also the people in your group would be more understanding to you because they are all in the same position as you.
3. understanding of life
3.1. For the religion Buddhism, The Four Noble Truths are their understanding of life. Their understanding of life is suffering. According to the Four Noble Truths suffering is "...it is this craving which leads to renewed existence, accompanied by delight and lust, seeking delight here and there, that is, craving for sensual pleasures, craving for existence, craving for extermination." The text states "This is the noble truth of the cessation of suffering: it is the remainderless fading away and cessation of that same craving, the giving up and relinquishing of it, freedom from it, non reliance on it." That is how people of Buddhism believe suffering will end. This shows that this is their understanding of life. To them life is suffering but there is a way to end it.
