1.1. Definition

1.1.1. This assessment is given towards the end of a large chunk of learning time. This assessment is to be given at the very end of an extended time period in order to see if students have achieved mastery of a large amount of content. The summative assessment should not be the first assessment students ever see regarding the unit!

5.1. Definition:

5.1.1. The process of gathering evidence along the way of a unit in order to check for student learning/understanding.

6. 2. Interim/Benchmark

6.1. Definition

6.1.1. This assessment is usually given periodically throughout the year in order to collect student data towards an overall end goal for the unit. Benchmarks are usually given at the end of a quarter, or even monthly.
