Julius Caesar by Mind Map: Julius Caesar

1. Erebus-The primeval god of darkness, son of Chaos. Quote from book: No Erebus itself were dim enough to hide thee from prevention. Pg. 53 *This word is important to the story because it helps to develop a theme. If they go out showing their true natures, even the dark gateway to hell couldn't hide them.

2. Act 2 Scene 2

2.1. Valiant: Possessing or showing courage or determination. Quote from book: "Cowards die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once." *This is important to the story, because it shows how confident Caesar is. His wife is begging him to stay home because she dreamed of his death, his friends are persuading him to come to work so they can kill him, and he choose his friends, because he thinks if he is to die, it was the gods choice for him to die and that is his fate.

3. Act 2 Scene I

3.1. Augmented- Having been made greater in size or value. Quote from book: " Fashion it thus: that what he is, augmented, would run to these and these extremities." Pg. 49 * This word is important to the story because it portrays a characteristic in Caesar by stating that if his true nature were allowed to develop it would reach terrible extremes.

4. Act 3 Scene 2

4.1. Drachmas- Silver coins, worth quite a bit to poor people during this time. Quote from book: " Here is the will, under Caesar's seal. To every Roman citizen he gives, To every several man, seventy- five drachmas." Page 125, line 261 * This word is important to the book because it shows a good background knowledge about this time. I also think it is interesting how it shows how people will revenge Caesars death if they receive drachmas.

4.2. Vanquished- Defeat thoroughly or come out better in a competition, race, or conflict. Quote from book: "From when the noble Caesar saw him stab, ingratitude, more strong than traitors' arms, Quite vanquished him." page 123, line 203 * This word is important to the book because it portrays that Caesar is defeated and the people against him won and came out better than Caesar.

5. Act 3 Scene 1

5.1. Tyranny: Cruel and oppressive government or rule. Quote from book: "Liberty! Freedom! Tyranny is dead!" *This word helps understand the book, because that is the way that the conspirators and some of the townspeople felt while Caesar was in rule.
