Julius Caesar Act 2 & 3

1. entrails

1.1. "Plucking the entrails of an offering forth, they could not find a heart within the beast."

1.2. the insides of something

1.3. This word is important because it helps with this phrase which is kind of saying read between the lines.

2. Northern Star

2.1. "I could be well moved, if I were as you; if I could pray to move, prayers would move me; but I am constant as the Northern Star, of whose truth-fixed and resting quality there is no fellow in the firmament."

2.2. Caesar refers to himself as the Northern star because he's not going to willingly step down. He isn't going to move.

2.3. the prominent star that lies closest in the sky to the north celestial pole, and which appears (approximately) directly overhead to an observer at the Earth's North Pole

3. mantle

3.1. "If you have tears, prepare to shed them now. You all do know this mantle. I remember the first time ever Caesar put it on.

3.2. a loose, sleeveless cloak or cape.

3.3. Antony holds up Caesar's mantle (cloak) for the crowd to see when he gives his speech about Caesar's death.

4. Tyranny

4.1. "So let high-sighted tyranny range on till each man drop by lottery."

4.2. Absolute ruler; person who holds all the power.

4.3. This word is important because Caesar was the person who held all the power.

5. Kindle

5.1. "But if these (as I am sure they do) bear fire enough to kindle cowards and to steel with valor the melting spirits of women, then, countrymen, what need we any spur but our own cause to prick us to redress?"

5.2. to start (a fire); cause (a flame, blaze, etc.) to begin burning.

5.3. This word is important because t's a way to describe how the people's spirits are burned.
