3. 1910: Mexican Revolution against Spain
4. 1540: expansion Northward: Soto in present Southeast U.S. Coronado in southwest; Cabrillo in California.
5. 1917: U.S. withdrew on eve of its entry into World War 1. New Mexican constitution adopted.
6. 1920: Obregon overthrew and killed Carranza.
7. 1882-1910: Railroads. US railroads recruit Mexican workers.
8. 1994: The U.S., Mexico,and Canada sign the North American Free Trade Agreement.
9. 1821: Mexico won their independence from Spain.
10. 1942: Mexicans were legally allowed to work in the U.S. on a temporary basis.
10.1. More than 4.5 million Mexicans participated until the Bracero Program ended in 1964.
11. 1836: There is a short war between Spain and the United States over Texas.
12. 1846-48: The United States won California, Arizona, New Mexico, and parts of Colorado and Nevada through the Mexican-American War.
13. 2000s: American presidents tightened border security after the 9/11 attacks in 2001.
