הן\nאמת שמצות כיבוד אב ואם היא מצווה שכלית, שהשכל מכריח ומחייב לקיימה, שהרי הוריו\nהביאוהו לעולם, גידלוהו וטרחו עבורו, דאגו לו לכל צרכיו, וכל מחסורו היה עליהם עד\nאשר גדל, ואם כן כל בר דעת מבין שעליו לכבד את הוריו, שאם לא יכבד, הריהו כפוי\nטובה. לכן צריך לכבד אותם. וכמו שכתוב בקוראאן:

(And your Lord has decreed\nthat you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or\nboth of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as],\n\"uff,\" and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.)

(And lower to them the wing of\nhumility out of mercy and say, \"My Lord, have mercy upon them as they\nbrought me up [when I was] small.\") (Surat Al-Esraa)
