1. Initial Understanding of Technology
1.1. What I thought technology was before the module
1.1.1. In recent periods, innovative technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Robotics and many others have played an important role in every sector. Before going through the module I had thought that technology has made it highly possible for people to access information as well as education from everywhere in the world (Pletox, 2024) . For instance, technology plays an informant role for healthcare advancement by bridging new medical treatment as well as diagnostic tools. In correspondence to this, I came to understand that technology plays a crucial role in every department ranging from marketing, financing, healthcare and many others. This makes the life of people highly comfortable and enables businesses to earn more revenue as well. Technologies can assist in making the world highly fairer and more peaceful (United Nations, 2024). People are highly prone to use the latest innovative technologies in their daily lives.
2. Current Understanding of Technology
2.1. The new definition of technology
2.1.1. After going through the module I have learned the new aspects of innovative technologies in recent periods and how this has impacted society and organizations. Moreover, the information technology significantly encompasses a broad range of systems and technologies that are utilised to store, process and retrieve along with transmitting the data for a particular use (Yasar, 2021). This displays that information technology consists of following types such as internet and web technologies. Cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence and machine learning along with many others. Considering this I must say that from the module I have gained a deeper level of understanding regarding multiple types and its usage of technologies. Earlier I used to understand that technology only enhances the organisation and lives of people but specific information regarding this was lacking. Therefore, the learnings from the module has helped me to discover the broader aspects of technology in recent periods. For instance, the transformative impact of AI in our society will have a far reaching economic, political, legal and regulatory implications (Marr, 2021). There is a positive relationship among society, technology, organization, machine, technical phenomenon and many others [Refer to module]. Well from the module I have effectively enriched my knowledge regarding the practical implication of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in recent periods as this plays a central role in every aspect of society.
2.2. Broader perspective
2.2.1. Industry 4.0 is also known as Fourth Industrial Revolution or 4IR. This technology is determined to be the next phase within digitalization of the manufacturing sector. Industry 4.0 is primarily driven by disruptive trends which includes the rise of data as well as connectivity, human-machine interaction along with improvement in robotics (McKinsey & Company, 2022). From the module learning I have already stated that the broader aspect of technology has been gained. This pimples the role Industry 4. In manufacturing and way it has shaped the infrastructure of this sector across the globe. I have also learned that it is important for every organization to comply with the major traits of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), including acceptance, perceived usefulness, subjective norms as well as intrinsic motivation. As per the views of Davis, Granić & Marangunić (2024), Technology Acceptance Model explains how the users perceive as well as accept technology. Based on this, I have come to a point that industries who adhere to these traits create higher chances of adopting innovative technologies. Human’s make effective utilisation of technology that involves not only instruments and machines but also consist of structured relations with other machines, humans and the environment [Refer to module]. In this context I must say that technology is more than a collection of devices and machines. Additionally, to understand beyond the basic aspects of technology, it needs investigation of the human requirement and socio-cultural environment. This also includes positive interactions with the technological artifacts as well.
3. Evolution of Ideas
3.1. How my ideas have changed
3.1.1. Prior to studying this model I have learned that technology can be used in every aspect of life and consists of multiple components. This includes a physical component that comprises products, tooling and equipment and whereas the informational components includes know-how in management [Refer to module]. Based on this I came to know that there is a positive relation of technology between machines and humans. Earlier I have also stated that technology makes the life of people highly comfortable and enables businesses to earn more revenue as well. Technologies can assist in making the world highly fairer and more peaceful (United Nations, 2024). However, before module I have failed to assess the border aspects of technology and it is required to be stated that the applications of technology is not only limited to humans but this has gone beyond all of these aspects. After going through the module I understood that apart from human usage, technologies such as AI, Blockchain and Robotics plays an important role in multiple sectors. This includes retail, manufacturing, hospitality and many others. There is a positive relationship between peoples and organizations because technology helps in building positive relationships between customers and organizations. This is done by enhancing their e-commerce platform and distribution channels because the majority of industries are eyeing to adopt innovative technologies to get access to more customers within a shorter period. Well technology has resulted in a rising rate of healthy competition as well. It is also justified to say that in the upcoming period human involvement will be replaced by capital intensive methods. It is reported that capital intensive production generally refers to production methods that news a higher eve of investment in technology and capital equipment (BBC, 2023). Based on the findings from the module, I have been able to gain a deeper level of understanding regarding technology as well as its impact.
4. Importance of New Technologies
5. In this fast changing world the lives of the people are not becoming complex but businesses have also changed drastically. To understand beyond the basic aspects of technology, it needs investigation of the human requirement and socio-cultural environment. This also includes positive interactions with the technological artifacts as well. Organisations who are able to adopt and implement innovative technologies such as AI and Robotics are likely to gain more competitive advantages. As mentioned above, there is a positive relationship between humans and machines that it is quite justified to say that people without attest technologies are highly vulnerable to multiple complexities. It is reported that global investment within the latest technology is projected to reach approximately $5.6 trillion by the end of 2025 (Edge Delta, 2025). In correspondence to this, it can be implied that there is a positive implication of the rise in latest technology in future periods to connect with more people along with overcoming the issues of digital divide. Industry 4.0 is primarily driven by disruptive trends which includes the rise of data as well as connectivity, human-machine interaction along with improvement in robotics (McKinsey & Company, 2022). Based on this data it is quite fair to say that technology is going to change the landscape of the whole world drastically.
5.1. Why do we need new technologies?
5.1.1. From the module learning I have understood that new technologies can effectively improve our life, increase productivity as well as support the businesses in staying highly competitive (Kestria, 2023). In this context, new technologies including AI, Blockchain and Data Analytics have significantly enhanced the productivity of multiple global sectors. This includes retail, manufacturing, hospitality and many others. Organisations need to incur heavy investment in adopting innovative technologies because to create more customer engagement, enhance more revenue along with serving the whole community as well.
5.2. The Streisand Effect
5.2.1. Definition
5.2.2. The Streisand Effect significantly describes a situation in which a particular person or organization’s attempts to suppress information that leads towards a greater level of attention. It is also quite evident that despite receiving its name in the year 2003, the Streisand effect has been witnessed both before as well as after its conceptualization (Travers, 2024). As stated by Messina (2022), The Streisand Effect can also get understood mainly as a special outcome of censorship attempts as well as one in which the approaches utilized to minimize outrage did not succeed. In correspondence to this, it is also quite evident that with the Streisand Effect If somebody tries to hide, censor or remove the information then it can backfire. Moreover there are multiple factors that contribute towards the Streisand Effect, first is psychologically and the ocd one is people who get motivated mainly by psychological reactance.
5.2.2.1. Examples
5.2.2.1.1. “For instance when the users generally encounter attempts towards suppressing the data, then they are likely to share it widely as an act of resistance. This gets bolstered by a sense of a collective sense regarding injustice”. Furthermore, the internet culture of digital activism significantly fosters an environment where combating censorship is observed as a moral or an ethical duty. In the year 2012, The Pirate Bay, a site for TV shows and pirated movies, was ordered by the UK high court to be taken down mainly by 5 internet service providers.
