1. Central Nervous System

1.1. Brain

1.1.1. Forebrain

1.1.1.1. Telencephalon

1.1.1.1.1. Cerebrum (2 cerebral hemispheres)

1.1.1.2. Diencephalon

1.1.1.2.1. Subthalamus

1.1.1.2.2. Hypothalamus

1.1.2. Midbrain

1.1.2.1. Integration of sensory information (visual, auditory, somatosensory) into motor signals that help orient the head toward various stimuli. Responsible for auditory and visual reflexes, as well as refining of motor movements.

1.1.3. Hindbrain

1.1.3.1. Pons

1.1.3.2. Medulla oblongata

1.1.3.3. Cerebellum

1.2. Spinal Cord

1.2.1. Thalamus

1.2.1.1. Located just above the brain stem between the cerebral cortex and the midbrain and has extensive nerve connections to both. The main function of the thalamus is to relay motor and sensory signals to the cerebral cortex (except olfactory).

1.2.2. Receipt of sensory information and initial processing. Indirectly responsible for movement as all voluntary motor stimuli are processed here.

2. Peripheral Nervous System

2.1. Somatic

2.2. Autonomic

2.2.1. Sympathetic

2.2.1.1. Fight or Flight

2.2.2. Parasympathetic

2.2.2.1. Rest & Digest
