Four social aspects that influence language

1. Gender

1.1. Men and women are ‘supposed’ to talk in a certain way

2. Culture (and cultural differences)

2.1.4. Getting confused with expressions that we don't understand

3. Speech community differences

3.1. People with the same academic backgrounds or same interests that share a way of speaking

3.1.1. some speech communities invent their terminology

3.1.2. Words with a common meaning are considered real

4. Socio-economic differences

4.1. When a country is economically powerful its people have more access to education and linguistic resources. People with education tend to be better paid and have a high status. Ex: English speakers
