Memory
von Jennifer Wilson
1. Brain Structures Involved in Memory is the Hippocampus
1.1. The Hippocampus is responsible in the Storage memory consolidation.
1.2. The hippocampus is also responsible for the Retrieval in the brain
1.3. The Amygdala and other part of the brain is responsible for
2. Storage
2.1. This is where retraining information is more or less passive to process in the brain.
2.2. Example: Having a conversation and no remembering when it took place.
2.2.1. Consolidation is where recent information is process into the LTM. By structural an chemical changes in the nervous system which strength the synaptic connections between neuron
2.2.2. An example of consolidation is learning how to drive a car. It is very important to follow the rules in driving, so the new information is storage in LTM.
2.2.3. Retrieval is the subsequent re-accessing of life events or information, from the past, which was previously encoded and stored in the brain.
2.2.4. An example of retrieval is remembering someone’s name after not seeing them for a while.
