1. Analyze how visual and multimedia elements contribute to the meaning, tone, or beauty of a text (e.g., graphic novel, multimedia presentation or fiction, folktale, myth, poem).

3. SWBAT: Compare and contrast different themes and meanings across various medias's
4. SWBAT: Describe different elements of media presented to them
5. Have a word bank with key element vocabulary words and have students fill in the blank with the appropriate vocab word to a definition
6. Give students worksheet asking them to compare and contrast different combinations of medias, have them work in pairs one focusing on compare and the other on contrasting then alternate
7. Create an assessment with obvious comparisons and contrasts for students to fill out
8. Have students write short essays about their favorite type of literature (fiction, non-fiction, poems, plays, etc.) write why it is their favorite and what about it is their favorite using element vocabulary words
9. This tool would be useful to help keep myself organized. I could sit down with fellow grade level teachers earlier in the week and we could collaborate and map out exactly what we want to do, why we want to do it, and what we want to cover. I can be forgetful so this would help me to remember ideas I've had and to go back and use them.
10. SWBAT: Identify different types of media
11. Design a matching game pairing different definitons of media to real life examples (comic books, novels, poems, plays, etc.)
12. Have students get creative and write and illustrate their own comic books or design the cover of their fiction/non-fiction story or draw a picture to accompany the poem they wrote (grade the written portion and effort of drawing)
