3. Intro
3.1. A time in my life where I demonstrated resilience was with my children and dealing with the complications associated with the developmental deformity to their cleft lip and palates. Some of the complications I had to work through were my fears, the extra costs, and the difficulties of raising a child with cleft lip and palate. If you do know a cleft lip and palate deformity is a facial deformity that happens in early pregnancy around three months where the roof of the childs mouth does not properly develop which depending on the severity can include the childs lips, nose, and eyes.
4. In conclusion, I demonstrate resilience with my children by seeking out knowledge in order to work through my fears, applying for funding to cover the extra costs associated with their disability and advocating for my children with doctors and getting them into the programs which can help them as they develop.
5. risk associated with cleft lip and palate as the child develops
5.1. had to have first surgery at 3 months to create a top part of their mouth and anther at a year to fix the palate (roof of mouth) and a final at the age of nine to recreate the bone plate in their gum line
5.2. Speech
5.3. I advocated for them to be put into speech therapy, and if they have learning disabilities
5.3.1. Getting a car and license, so i could take them to appointments---?
