1. The first conditional

1.1. Describes a specific future event We are NOT describing a fact or regular action.

1.1.1. Estructura If+ Condition+ result Result+ if+ condition

1.2. Verb tenses Although the form of the condition is the present simple, the meaning is the future.

1.2.1. Example; If I will miss the bus, I will take the train.

1.3. Present simple +"going to" For the result, we can also use "going to" + base form of the verb.

1.3.1. Example: If I see he, I'm going to invite her to the party = going to" describes a strong intention or plan for the future.

1.4. Present simple + modal If you do your homework, you may watch television.

1.4.1. We use "may" in the first conditional to give permission in the future."may' is quite formal.

1.5. Use "can" in the first conditional to give permission in the future."can is more informal.

1.5.1. Example: If you feel ill, you should rest.

1.6. We use "should" in the first conditional to give advice in the future.We use "should" to say what is the correct thing to do.

2. Significado

2.1. The conditional mood is one of the modes of the verb in some Romance and Germanic languages. Another alternative name is potential mode because it sometimes refers to hypothetical or possible actions. The conditional is often considered to be simply a tense and not an independent mood.

3. Zero conditional

3.1. Sentences describe events or things that are very likely to happen.

3.1.1. Estructura: If+ conditiinal+ result result + if + conditional

3.1.1.1. Example: If you drink too much wine, you feel sink = there must be a comma after the prayer.

3.2. Verb tenses

3.2.1. The present simple describes facts: If i was naughty, my parents punished me.

3.3. For regular events from the past, we use the past simple: If the weather was fine, we ate breakfast outside.

4. The secod conditional

4.1. Describes an imaginary, impossible or unlikely situation in the present or future. The situation is hypothetical, It is not real.

4.1.1.1. Example: It If he knew her telephone number, he would call her = (There is a comma after the condition).

4.1.1.2. Result: He would call her if he knew her telephone number = (We do NOT use a comma).

4.2. Verb tense of the condition: The past tense is indicating a distance from reality. It is not indicating past time.

4.2.1. Example: If Ihad a lot of money, I would buy an expensive car.

4.3. The verb "to be" - A special case: The tense is the past simple, subjunctive mood:

4.3.1. Exaple: mood past: I was/ You were/ he was mood pas simple: I were/ You were/ the were
