The report explains how from an economic area how Tourism could contribute to it more "positively": by creating employment in rural and urban zones for locals and by raising awareness of cultural and environmental values, and helping to finance the protection and management protected areas, and the preservation of biological diversity.

OECD recommends Governments to construct policies for sustainable tourism around five points: (1) provide consumers with access to high quality, reliable and safe tourism experiences, (2) increase productivity in the tourism sector, and particularly among SMEs, (3) protect, manage and enhance natural and cultural resources, (4) improve competitiveness and (5) promote inclusive growth and development within and across countries.

10.3.1.1. In the previous ressource, ONU talks about three sustainable development goals. The 8th: promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all, the 12th: ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns and the 14th: conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.
