1. SURGICAL SUTURE is a medical device used to hold body tissues together after an injury or surgery. Application generally involves using a needle with an attached length of thread.

1.1. CATGUT SUTURE is made by twisting together strands of purified collagen taken from the serosal or submucosal layer of the small intestine of healthy ruminants (cattle, sheep, goats) or from beef tendon.

1.1.1. Suture from halal animals and legal slaughter are categorized as HALAL. Al-An’am 6:118 "Maka makanlah binatang-binatang (yang halal) yang disebut nama Allah ketika menyembelihnya, jika kamu beriman kepada ayat-ayat-Nya."

1.1.2. Sutur from haram animal and/or from from illegal slaughter, for example pig intestine included in the category of HARAM sutures and CANNOT be used in medicine. Only allowed in situations of emergency or darurah. Sabda Rasulullah SAW yang diriwayatkan daripada ‘Abdullah bin Mas‘ud berkata, “Sesungguhnya Allah SWT tidak menjadikan kesembuhan pada benda-benda yang diharamkan.”
