2. Disruptive Behavior

2.1. Arriving Late

2.1.1. If you embarrass late comers, next time they may decide to skip class completely (even with a valid reason). Arriving late will remove the "warning" and additional issues will lead to point removal.

2.2. Speaking Out of Turn

2.2.1. Allow the student to finish, they might be making a good point. Allow whoever was interupted to finish afterwards and re-inforce the positive habit of waiting for your turn.

2.3. Using Technology for Personal Interactions

2.3.1. Involve students in setting ground rules for technology usage

2.3.2. Avoid lecturing for long periods of time

2.3.3. Engage learners and avoid passive techniques

2.4. Falling Asleep

2.4.1. Wake the student up and respectfully ask how they are feeling.

2.4.2. Consider moving student to the front of the Class if they are not already.

2.4.3. Find ways to keep the students active. Take a quick break, make it relatable by saying" I'm feeling tired" get the class do some stationary sprints, stretching etc.

3. Confrontational Behaviour

3.1. Immediate Threat

3.1.1. Physical abuse

3.1.2. Throwing dangerous objects

3.1.2.1. For both instances: Stay calm, don't turn back on student, avoid physical contact and call security/administration.

3.2. Non-Immediate Threat

3.2.1. Swearing

3.2.2. Verbal Outbursts

3.2.2.1. Address all issues quickly and concistently, do not ignore. It may be beneficial to have a quick chat in the hallway with the student regarding their actions once a task has been given to the rest of the students

3.2.3. Name Calling

3.2.4. Bullying

4. Negative Emotions

4.1. Lack of Interest

4.1.1. Try to make eye contact

4.1.2. Ask what their thoughts on the subject are

4.1.3. Try provide an example that relates subject matter to a known interest of theirs

4.2. Lack of confidence

4.2.1. Praise the student in specific and genuine ways

4.2.2. Provide proof of improvement

4.2.3. Potentially group with a confident student

4.3. Social difficulties

4.3.1. Provide opportunities for growth through group projects etc.

4.3.2. Work to create a safe and inclusive classroom.

5. For Negative Emotions, work with the student to identify the challenges and what they believe is happening. Develop a growth plan and provide relentless support.

6. Prevention

6.1. Relationships

6.1.1. Take time to know each student. Kneel, sit or find a way to get down to their level and make them feel equal. Actually listen to their stories and concerns.

6.2. Student Involvement

6.2.1. Allow students to have a say in additional expectations, rewards and classroom management. Create a democratic environment where decisions are made by voting etc.

6.3. Structure

6.3.1. Ensure each class has structure and activity from beginning to end. Plan optional or additional tasks for those who may finish work early (make these fun to do so students will want to finish in a timely fashion)

6.4. Lead By example

6.4.1. Demonstrate the positive behaviors wanted in students. Be a role model and lead by example

6.5. Emotional Identification

6.5.1. Provide opportunities and help students identify what they are feeling. Provide coping strategies and teach them that it is ok to feel angry, sad, etc. as long as it is managed in a healthy way

7. Point system for rewards

7.1. 3 points awarded per student per class based on the three "P's". Points will be collected throughout the semester

7.1.1. Prepared

7.1.1.1. On time for Class with all required materials

7.1.2. Positive

7.1.2.1. Nice to everyone, helpful, no swearing, insults, bullying, talk back. disagreements are handled respectfully

7.1.3. Productive

7.1.3.1. Staying on task, not distracting others, using technology appropriately

7.2. Rewards will be posted on classroom walls with associated "points" required to obtain.

7.2.1. The rewards must be something the students actually want. Potentially take a survey or vote to determine what should be available.

8. Immediate Escalation to Parents and Administration

8.1. Signs of Abuse

8.2. Signs of Self Harm

8.3. Serious Re-occurring issues

8.4. Alcohol or Drug use
