1. Consistent routines allow students to focus on WHAT is to be learned rather than HOW things will be learned.
2. Identify what is to be taught
3. Set a purpose & sense of urgency
4. Brainstorm desired behaviors
5. Model desired behaviors
6. Incorrect modeling
7. Practice and build stamina
8. Short intervals of repeated practice; kinesthetic learning experiences that allow children to hear and feel what they are doing
9. Repeat steps
10. Teaching and practicing routines will lead to a consistent, calm, predictable literacy block.
11. Modeling of incorrect behaviors allow students to get "recognized" for their clowning, but also for modeling the correct behavior. Everyone knows they CAN do it.
