Respiration
von Trina Tran

1. 6O2 + C6H12O6 = 6CO2 + ATP + 6H2O
2. Glycolysis
2.1. happens in the cytoplasm
2.2. starts off with 6 carbon sugars
2.2.1. plus NAD+ (energy to snap the carbon in half)
2.2.1.1. equals 2ATP + 2 pyruvic acid
2.3. Anaerobic Respiration (Fermentation)
2.3.1. 2 pyruvic acid + NADH
2.3.1.1. equals lactic acid/alcohol + NADH+/NAD+ + 2ATP
2.3.2. happens in the cytoplasm
2.4. Aerobic Respiration (with oxygen)
2.4.1. 3 steps
2.4.1.1. pyruvic acid turns into Acetyl CoA
2.4.1.1.1. occurs in mitochondria (inter membrane)
2.4.1.2. krebs cycle
2.4.1.2.1. happens in matrix
2.4.1.2.2. makes 4 CO2 (carbon dioxide) per glucose that is released
2.4.1.2.3. makes 6NADH and 6 2FADH2 that will be used in ETC
2.4.1.2.4. makes 2ATP
2.4.1.3. electron transport chain (ETC)
2.4.1.3.1. occurs in the inner membrane
