1. PLANNING STAGE

1.1. PURPOSE

1.1.1. During this stage committee members will review the state biology standards to identify problems in the current curriculum. (Schutte et al., 2018). They will determine how the goals of a curriculum map will be met. (Harrison & Williams, 2023). The concerns and questions of teachers that will implementing the curriculum map will be addressed. (Ornstein & Hunkins, 2019).

2. BUILDING STAGE

2.1. PURPOSE

2.1.1. During this stage a digital platform for the curriculum map will be selected by the committee members. (Schutte et al., 2018). The map will be designed to include units with an overall goal, brief overview, key concepts, and common summative and formative assessments. (Harrison & Williams, 2023). Each unit will also contain learning targets and essential questions. (Schutte et al., 2018).

3. IMPLEMENTATION STAGE

3.1. PURPOSE

3.1.1. During this stage the biology teachers at ABC High School will put the curriculum map into practice. They will analyze data, collaborate together at various points throughout the school year, and reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of the curriculum map. (Harrison & Williams, 2023).

4. REVIEW STAGE

4.1. PURPOSE

4.1.1. The purpose of this stage is to evaluate whether the desired results and goals are being met, identify the strengths and weaknesses of the curriculum map, and examine the feedback of administrators, teachers, and students. (Harrison & Williams, 2023).

5. MODIFICATION STAGE

5.1. PURPOSE

5.1.1. During this stage the issues identified in the review stage will be applied to make necessary changes to the curriculum map. Other modification will be made based on district-wide initatives, state policy changes, and updates to state-mandated standards. (Harrison & Williams, 2023).
