1. Catalyst hero
1.1. a central figure who acts heroically, don't change much themselves but function in the story to bring about change in others so is alongside other main hero in some way
2. Group-oriented hero
2.1. part of society at the beginning; journey takes them far from home, may have lone adventure in some kind of unknown world but eventually rejoins their group
3. Loner hero
3.1. usually apart from society as the story begins, natural state is solitude maybe some kind of 'wilderness'; may gain entry to a group during the quest but returns to solo life
4. Reluctant hero
4.1. full of doubts, hesitant, needs to be pushed into it or motivated by an outside force
5. Willing, active hero
5.1. committed to the quest, without many doubs, bravely goes ahead, motivated
6. Anti-hero
6.1. might be an outlaw or villain from the point of view of society, but the audience is in sympathy with them; often rebels
7. Tragic hero
7.1. a flawed character who never overcomes their inner demons, might be brought down and destroyed by these demons; can be charming!
