Hunter Biden (and Alexander SMIRNOV). In addition to blatantly slow-walking the Biden investigation and improperly conferring special treatment on Hunter, Weiss allowed the statute of limitations to expire on Hunter Biden's 2014 crimes involving the corrupt Ukrainian-based energy company, Burisma. Upon learning of IRS official Gary Shapley's concerns about the obvious preferential treatment being provided to Hunter, Weiss conveyed to Shapley's IRS superiors that Weiss "was not going to be responding to Mr. Shapley's emails anymore[.]"

2.2.1.1. Leo Joseph Wise Principal Senior Assistant SC (Reassigned) DOB: 01/31/1977 leo.wise@usdoj.gov Maryland Bar #: 0401050017 Baltimore, MD 21212 Wise was the #2 in the SCO office under Weiss and the lead prosecutor in the C.D. of Cal. (23-cr-599) case against R. Hunter Biden. The C.D. of Cal. case was a result of failed plea negotiations in July 2023; those plea negotiations (if they would have been approved by the federal district court judge) included Wise's recommendation that Hunter serve a sentence of probation only. Just a few years earlier, Wise sought a year in prison for an official whose tax violation losses represented not even 1/10th of the amount committed by Hunter.

4.1.1. Veronica "Ronnie" Mary Hnat SA DOB: 07/18/1964 Taxpayer-funded work phone: 302-275-0369 Wilmington, DE 19808 A FBI 302 form completed after an interview with the gun shop owner, Ron Palimere, featured Hnat: "Palimere scanned and emailed the certified 4473 [form] to [ATF Agent Jake] Reisch using his StarQuest email address ... Palimere did not handle the form again for three years and until he was requested to turn it over to ATF SA Veronica Hnat on September 23, 2021. ... Palimere was contacted by Hnat who said she wanted to come by to take custody of the Form 4473. Palimere ultimately went to the ATF building in Wilmington, Delaware, and turned over the annotated 4473. Palimere received a receipt for property from the ATF. Hnat allowed Palimere to make a copy of the annotated 4473 for his records."

4.1.1.1. James "Jake" Hughes Reisch SA DOB: 01/1982 james.reisch@atf.gov Chesterfield, VA 23832 Reisch received from Palimere (via email on 10/26/2018) a scanned copy of the aforementioned ATF 4473 form, which was at the center of the trial of R. Hunter Biden in the D. of Del. (23-cr-61). A FBI 302 form written after an interview with Palimere stated the following: "Based on a text message Palimere sent to Reisch on October 24, 2018, Palimere believes it was October 24, 2018, when separately, the Delaware State Police (DSP) and the United States Secret Service (USSS) came to StarQuest [the gun shop]. They said the firearm was involved in a case of some kind and they wanted to expedite the trace process and get access to the Form 4473. Both agencies asked the same questions and it appeared they were not aware of each other's investigations. Something about the USSS request did not seem right so Palimere contacted Reisch. Reisch advised Palimere not to turn the original Form 4473 over to anyone and to turn over a copy only if Palimere felt Palimere had to."
