1. Gibbons v. Ogden
1.1. Court case that dealt with the supreme court having the power to regulate interstate commerce. Court ruled in favor of Gibbons.
1.2. Dealt with the tenth amendment.
2. Dred Scott v. Sandford
2.1. Court case that dealt with the decision that african americans could not be american citizens. Court ruled in favor of Sandford.
2.2. Dealt with the fifth amendment.
3. Plessy v. Ferguson
3.1. Court case that involved re-evaluating the constitutionality of the Separate but Equal segregation laws. Court ruled the law was still valid
3.2. Dealt with racial segregation laws.
4. Brown v. Board of Education
4.1. Court case that dealt with establishing separate schools for blacks and whites unconstitutional. The court ruled in favor of brown.
4.2. Ruled in violation of the Equal Protection Act of the fourteenth amendment.
5. United States v. E.C. Knight and Co.
5.1. Court case that dealt with the U.S, government controlling monopolies. The court ruled against the government.
5.2. Dealt with the tenth amendment.
6. Debs v. United States
6.1. Court case that dealt with a speech against WW1. Court convicted the man and was sentenced to ten years in prison.
6.2. Dealt with the first amendment.
7. Schechter Poultry Corp v. United States
7.1. Court case that dealt with the selling of unhealthy poultry. Court sided with the people that had been sold the sick poultry.
7.2. Dealt with the tenth amendment.
8. Marbury v. Madison
8.1. Court case that helped define the boundary between executive and judicial branch of american government.
8.2. Dealt with the Third Article of the Constitution
9. Dartmouth College v. Woodward
9.1. Court case that involved Dartmouth college becoming a public institution due to deposition by trustees. Court sided with the college to keep its private status
9.2. Dealt with Contract Clause of Constitution
10. McCulloch v. Maryland
10.1. Court case where Maryland imposed a tax on all notes of banks not chartered in Maryland as a way of hurting a branch of the Second Bank of the United States.
10.2. Dealt with the Necessary and Proper clause of the Constitution
11. Lochner v. New York
11.1. Court case that dealt with the number of hours New York bakers could work per day and per week. Court sided with bakers health.
11.2. Dealt with the due process clause of fourteenth amendment
12. Schenck v. United States
12.1. Court case that dealt with the Espionage Act of 1917. Court ruled that any one giving leaflets to draft age men could be convicted of obstructing the draft

13. Roe v. Wade
13.1. Court case that dealt with abortion. Court decided abortions are legal. Specific to state and terms of pregnancy
