1. What is the role of the UN? How do they make their decisions?

1.1. Only the security council has the power to make decisions which have to then be implemented by all member states.

2. What are the different linked organisations?

2.1. The UN has 6 principle links: the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council, the Secretariat, the International Court of Justice, and the UN Trusteeship Council.

3. What is the security council?

3.1. The responsibility of the council is to maintain international peace and security.

3.2. It has 15 members and each have one vote

4. What is an IGO?

4.1. IGO stands for Inter-governmental Organisation, examples are; the European Union and the United Nations.

5. Why was the UN established?

5.1. The UN was established after WWII (1945) in order to prevent a similar conflict from happening again. It replaced the ineffective league of nations organisation.

6. What is the UN's role in making decisions regarding climate change?

6.1. The UN formed the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in order to hinder the impacts of human activities on the environment.
