3.1. ask lots of questions
3.1.1. but how do you know what the right questions are?
3.2. build a following
3.2.1. does this mean that one would need to "market" their notebook to the right crowd? or can this happen naturally?
3.2.2. follow basic rules of blogging and web marketing
3.2.2.1. target your discussions - having a constant theme will help build an audience that returns consistently
3.2.2.2. provide useful information, if people find that what you have to say is important they will come back
3.3. can notebooks engage a wide audience anyway?
4. Widespread use of ONS
4.1. getting started
4.1.1. software that allows people to keep some information private, but allows them to make it public when they are comfortable
4.2. must be easy - not everyone enjoys developing code and presenting it in a coherent manner, nor does everyone have the capacity to do so.
4.3. not time consuming
4.4. I really want to know what others think will cause a shift in how scientists present their experiments.
4.5. proving that traditional standards are just as measurable here

4.5.2. tracking conversations on twitter and social networks
