Interview - qualitative research technique par Mind Map: Interview - qualitative research technique

1. Practical concerns: - Asking the wrong questions; - Inconsistency between candidates; - Bias; - Interview fatigue; - Interviews are inherently dishonest.

2. Questions to be asked depend on the type of the interview according to its structure. Mostly used interview type - unstructured interview; and its question should be: - Simple and easy to understand & separately asked; - Elicit the longest answer; - Don't require respondents to do analysis of the research question; - Don't require respondents to answer on behalf of a group which s/he belongs to; - Could be embarrassing

3. What kind of people should participate as interviewees? It depends on the interviewer, but all the people must be highly qualified and relevant to the given topic

4. Types according to the structure: - Structured (kind of a prepared survey) - Semi-structured (basic structure + probing the respondent) - Unstructured (conversation with a purpose)

4.1. Types according to the methods: - Personal (in-life) interview - Distant interview (telephonic, web, E-mail)

5. This method collects the information from the words of interviewee, especially his or her opinion on something

6. How collected through the interview data is useful? This data is not as useful as other methods' data, just because the opinion of one human is not as reliable as opinions of hundreds or even thousands of people (Survey) and it's not as exact as we can see while experimenting. However, the simple observation won't give as good a result as we could receive from the specialist, even if we are interested in this theme
