1. What did white people think slaves were worth?

1.1. Most white people believed that slave lifes didn't matter.

1.2. Some whites thought they were helping black people by enslaving them against their will, because they gave them food and shelter.

2. What about their families?

2.1. When they were forced out of their home countries they were also forced away from their families. If as a slave they have a family, then they might be sold.

3. How were they treated?

3.1. A man named Walter Calloway, who was a slave said in an interview that he once saw a 13 year old girl who was also a black slave get whipped nearly to death.

3.1.1. Not only were both men and women often beaten, but black women of any age were raped by their owners.

4. How were they transported?

4.1. For every 100 slaves who reached the new world, another 40 had died, either in Africa or during the middle passage.

4.2. People were forced out of Africa, and taken by boat, so seasickness was common, and since they were all crowded on the lower decks it was extremely hot and humid. Diseases were very common.
