Religion affects the lives of its followers by...par Liliana Conard
1. Moral Code
1.1. People who follow a religion feel obliged to follow a moral code because following the moral code is the way to get to what the religion promises people who follow it. The first document, The Ten Commandments, says, "You shall not kill." "You shall not commit adultery," and "You shall not steal." With every religion, besides the part about that specific religion, the moral code talks about things that people should not do.
2. Understanding of Life
2.1. Life is a puzzle. Bad things happen to everyone at some point. For example, document 2, The 4 Noble Truths, says, "This is the noble truth of suffering: birth is suffering, aging is suffering, illness is suffering, death is suffering." Bad things happen all the time in life.Religion provides an explanation of why bad things happen, and also provides the patience to endure the things that people encounter during their lives.
3. Peaceful Coexistence
3.1. People of all religions have learned to not judge people too much based on their religious beliefs. The first document, The Ten Commandments, says, "You shall not kill." Obviously, killing someone is extreme, but for every religion, nobody approves of killing one of a different religion. Also, document 4, The 5 Pillars of faith, says, "Each Muslim give charity and help the needy." if you give to charity, you are not just helping the people in your religion, but you are helping all of the needy.
