1. Invite parents to be partners in their child's education.

1.1. Invite parents to share about their child's strengths and weaknesses

1.2. Invite parents to tell the teacher or counselor about what may be going on at home that might effect students behavior

2. Focus on positive feedback instead of the negative.

2.1. Let parents know that their student is reaching their goals or hitting milestones

2.2. We can do this by sending notes home or emailing

2.3. Beside to try and always give positive feedback when also relaying what could be worked on

3. Share experiences that happen in the classroom.

3.1. Keep parents updated on the status of their child's education

3.2. Send students work home so that parents have something to keep as memories

4. Collaborate with teachers and make sure that everyone is using the same form of communication to distribute important information.

4.1. We don't want parents to feel overwhelmed or frustrated

4.2. Communication should be assessable and easy

4.3. Too many platforms can confuse parents and potential make them miss out on important information

5. Build rapport with child's support structure.

5.1. Establish trust with parents or caregivers

5.2. Building trust with parents will allow them to feel comfortable to reach out to you if they seek an issue
