Technology Frameworks par Mind Map: Technology Frameworks

1. Triple E

1.1. A tool educators use to help measure how well technology tools are being used in lessons to help students engage

1.2. Engage in learning goals: guided practice, I do, we do, you do, turn and talk, share aloud

1.2.1. Enhance learning goals: active listening, self reflection, visual thinking and representation

1.2.1.1. Extend learning goals: real world issues, pen pals, role play, using technology to solve real life issues

2. SAMR

2.1. A model that explains technology and how a teacher can use it to their benefit. It is helpful to study when a teacher wants to improve their technological stance when it comes to new assignments

2.2. Substitution: when technology acts as a direct substitute. This is the least beneficial use of technology because it does not facilitate creative thinking or use the technology to its fullest potential. i.e. writing a paper on Word

2.3. Augmentation: when technology acts as a substitute with improvement. This is a step above substitution because yes the technology still substitutes the task, but it uses the benefits of technology to strengthen it. i.e. using spell check on a Word document for an essay

2.4. Modification: technology is significantly redesigned. This is still things you could do in the real world, but it is more significant than augmentation. i.e. creating comments on a Google Doc

2.5. Redefinition: the highest form of technological use, it redesigns the task at hand and makes it something that cannot be done in the real world. i.e. Posting a video about your essay to YouTube and let others share and comment.

3. TPACK

3.1. A framework that identifies three factors necessary for successful technological integration in the classroom.

3.1.1. Factor A: Pedagogical Knowledge (PCK)

3.1.1.1. Factor B: Content Knowledge (TCK)

3.1.1.1.1. Factor C: Technological Knowledge (TPK)

3.1.1.1.2. Understanding how to use the tools available

3.1.1.2. Knowing digital tools available and how to interact

3.1.2. Understanding the best practices for teaching specific to students

3.2. This framework is a VennDiagram. The center is known as TPACK and represents a full knowledge of tech.

3.3. Ways to integrate TPACK into a Biology lesson: after going over the lesson, break into small groups ... have group record each other explaining concepts ... have students compare through Word or Google Doc
