My Culture par Mind Map: My Culture

1. Chicano & Brown Pride: Being brown is something that I am super proud of. I also think existing is amazing, but being brown and continuing to break generational cycles is a feeling that is incomparable. I don't feel like losing my cultural practices and will continue to practice them with my family.

2. Border Town: Living in a border town placed me in the center of Mexican culture. This was something that in the future, through socialization I learned to distinguish who was from Juarez and Who lived in El Paso.

3. Catholicism: Being Catholic meant going to church every Sunday and understanding all unwritten rules about how to behave and dress for Church.

4. Food:Close to my heart is the food that I have experienced growing up. The food is delicious, yet there is a bank of memories that I have when celebrating within my culture and food is a big part of those celebrations.

5. Community: Watching events such as Matachines which represent religious honors. The most famous one is honoring La Virgen de Guadalupe.

6. Family: Growing up in a Chicano family meant that "family is first. I believe that as much as this feels to be true, the limits that it comes with can make you feel as if you don't belong in a specific setting.
