1.1. Caring far and looking after their spouse. Reproducing to create a family. Providing financially for family members do their physical needs are met. Providing a safe, loving and caring environment for family members so their emotional needs are met. Teaching children the norms, values morals, behaviours and social skills
2. Grandparents
2.1. Helping their children financially. Passing on values,knowledge and wisdom to younger generation. Helping out with child-minding Providing emotional support to their children and grandchildren. As grandchildren get older, they may have to depend on their children for care or financial support
3. Roles and responsiblility of family members
3.1. A role is the expected pattern of behaviour of an individual according to their status in society
3.2. Role conflict- when a person in one role clash with what is expected in another role
3.3. Role overload- if a person may have to play many roles at the same time, each with a different expected behaviour
3.4. Responsibilites- are the duties or tasks people are required to carry out as part of their role (eg. a parent's responsibility to keep their child safe.)
4. Children's Role
4.1. Learning to behave in a socially acceptable way (eg. having manners, showing respect) Following family rules and carrying out simple chores Understanding the difference between right and wrong and following the rules of society (eg. do not steal)
5. Adolescents
5.1. Taking on extra responsibility around the home (eg. babysitting ,cooking, laundry. Having more of an input in family decisions and rules. Acting as a role models for younger siblings. Following school rules and behaving in a socially acceptable way. Working hard to achieve their best at school to reach their full potential
