6.1. 18th Amendment = prohibited the “manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors” in the United States

6.1.1. Women wanted it to be illegal because they were beat up by drunk husbands

6.1.2. Speakeasy = illegal bars hidden in the cities

6.1.2.1. moonshine - illegally hand made alcohol

6.1.2.2. Gangsters ran speakeasies and were involved in selling illegal alcohol

6.1.2.3. Flappers - young women who drank alcohol at speakeasies

6.1.2.4. Flappers wore makeup, smoked cigarettes, wild women, not ladylike to drink openly

6.2. 19th Amendment = Women could VOTE

6.2.1. Now women also worked outside the home
