1. The Man Jack

1.1. What is his relationship with Bod?

1.1.1. He was sent by his mysterious organisation to kill Bod's whole family, although Bod escaped.

1.2. How does Bod feel about him?

1.2.1. When Bod first learns about him, he wants vengeance. In page 181 of the book, Bod says, "If I go outside in the world, the question isn't 'who will keep me safe from him... It's 'who will keep him safe from me?'"

1.2.2. Later, when Scarlett is in danger, page 262-263 of the book, Bod begins to feel a fear of Jack, because although Jack cannot hurt him, he could hurt his friends.

2. Silas

2.1. What is his relationship with Bod?

2.1.1. He is Bod's guardian. Bod's safety was entrusted to him by Bod's step-parents, Mr. and Mrs. Owens. Mr. and Mrs. Owens became Bod's step-parents on the night when Bod's entire family was murdered by a man called Jack. Silas was basically Bod's walking dictionary as Bod always asked Silas questions and Silas always answered his questions clearly and lucidly and as simply as he needed to so Bod could understand what he asked.

2.2. How does Bod feel about him?

2.2.1. Silas is an idol to Bod. In page 38 of the book, Bod said, "I want to be like you" to Silas.

3. Mother Slaughter

3.1. What is her relationship with Bod?

3.1.1. Mother Slaughter is one of the people who debated with Mr. and Mrs. Owens on whether they should give Bod the Freedom of the Graveyard, which would allow him to see in the dark and to go where the living normally can't.

3.2. How does Bod feel about her?

3.2.1. Bod was just a baby when Mother Slaughter was mentioned in the book for the first and last time. Bod does not know who Mother Slaughter is.

4. Scarlett

4.1. What is her relationship with Bod?

4.1.1. She is Bod's childhood friend. Bod met her at a Graveyard, which is also his home. Not long after they met, they begun making faces at each other and after that, became friends. They then ventured into the barrows which is located underground, within a hill in the Graveyard. There, they met an ancient being whom they both referred to as, 'The Indigo Man'. Later on, they find out that The Indigo Man is a Sleer, which while waiting for its master to return, guards all the treasures he left behind. Soon after, they had to part as Scarlett was moving to a new home. Years later, they met each other again.

4.2. How does Bod feel about her?

4.2.1. In page 289 of the book, Bod said, "I liked her". The 'her' refers to Scarlett, which means Bod liked Scarlett.
