FORCES par Mind Map: FORCES

1. Newton's 1st Law

1.1. " Law of Inertia "

1.2. An object at rest tends to stay at rest, and an object in motion tends to stay in that motion with the same speed and in the same direction, unless there is a Net Force acting on it

2. Newton's 2nd Law

2.1. The acceleration of an object, "a" , due to a net force, "FNet" is directly proportional to the magnitude of the net force, in the same direction as the net force , and inversely proportional to the mass, "m" of the object

3. Newton's 3rd Law

3.1. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The statement means that in every interaction, there is a pair of forces acting on the two interacting objects. The size of the forces on the first object equals the size of the force on the second object.

4. Turning Effects of Forces (Moments)

4.1. The moment of a force about a point is the product of force and perpendicular distance from that reference point

4.2. The reference point can be freely chosen

5. Frictional Forces

5.1. When there is relative motion or when two surfaces are in contact, forces are created to oppose the movement known as friction.
