Issues in Web Awareness and Digital Citizenship

1. Trustworthiness/ Credibility

1.1. Students need to be aware that much of what is available on the internet is scams and not real

1.2. Student's need to understand that the information they share should be honest and credible

2. Participation

2.1. Students need to be aware if their internet usage is positive or negative

2.1.1. Cyberbullying vs. Connecting

2.2. Our digital footprint is permanent, mistakes are commonly made by students during spur of the moment decisions

3. Identity

3.1. Having a different persona online can also be a real gift for a kid who's particularly shy

3.2. digital identity can be a way for kids to dodge personal consequences

3.3. Some may explore antisocial or harmful identities

4. Privacy

4.1. Starting at a young age students need to be introduced into how to make strong passwords in order to protect themselves and their personal information

4.2. As students get older it is important be aware of potential internet scams and how to avoid these situations

4.3. Respect for others privacy
